These days it seems there's a new hotel going up in Angeles every time you turn around. Okay this is obviously an exaggeration but the fact is the number of hotels in Angeles is expanding rapidly and it seems that all, are making money.

The latest hotel that seemingly sprang up overnight (even though it has been there for 10 months at the time of writing this review) is the Devera Hotel.

The Devera Hotel is situated right near PonyTails bar just after checkpoint which means it is easy walking distance to the bars of Upper and Central Fields Avenue.

This is an excellent location and perfect for those whose priority are the bars of Fields Avenue and lower Perimeter Road.

The Devera Hotel is interesting because it is owned by a Filipino - American family and the difference between it and a hotel that is owned and operated by Filipinos who have never been overseas, is just glaringly obvious. It's just the little things that stand out along with the obvious attention to detail. When we went there to do the review the lady at the front desk was smiling, welcoming and went out of her way to show us round the hotel. Add to this that she was hot looking and you have the perfect receptionist.

The hotel has seven stories and approximately 50 rooms. There are 7 different types of rooms ranging from the Junior Standard, Standard Room, Superior Room, and Deluxe Room through to the Junior Executive Room, the Executive Jacuzzi Room and the impressive Junior Suite. One interesting thing about this hotel is that there is one of each type of room with the exception of the Junior Suite on each floor of the hotel. When we visited we were shown rooms on the the seventh floor and sure enough there was one of each of the rooms vacant, cleaned and ready to be photographed.

This is not a luxury 5 star hotel like the ABC its neighbor but rather it is a basic 3 star hotel which is efficiently run, in a great location, immaculately clean, and provides all the basics to make your stay comfortable and enticing enough to virtually guarantee repeat business.

As a three star hotel should be it is reasonably priced with the rooms ranging from 1,600PHP (1,200 with discount)for the Junior Standard Room, through to the impressive Junior Suite at 5,000PHP (or 3,750 PHP with discount).

I found the rooms brightly lit, immaculately clean, and containing all the modern amenities that the average hotel guest would need. All rooms contain a queen sized bed, nice thick curtains which shield against the daylight and also serve to keep the noise from the street out, split type air-conditioning, 32"flat screen LCD TV, free wired and wireless internet access, hot and cold rainwater showers, cabinet for holding clothes, a large wall mirror, minibar and a large in room safety box.

Personally I feel this hotel is missing several things. When staying in an Angeles Hotel I like a swimming pool, even if I don't use it that much, its nice to know it's there. Currently they do not have a restaurant in the hotel so I assume there is no room service.

Having said this a restaurant is being built on the seventh floor but I would estimate this will not be completed until 2013.

Lastly my other criticism is that the Junior Standard rooms are not just small they are really small and once you step off the bed there is very little room to move. Then again they are only 1,200 (discounted price) and for a hotel of this newness and in this location that represents excellent value.

One thing I really liked was that even though they are still not finished the building it is very obvious that the Filipino staff who work there are proud of their jobs and their hotel. The receptionist who guided us around was extremely friendly, very helpful and obviously knowledgeable about her hotel.

In my honest opinion if you want a good clean, perfectly placed hotel at a mid range price then this could be the Hotel for you. It is not the no frills approach like that of the Tune hotel and it does not target the upper market either. But if anywhere from 40 to 60 dollars for a room is in your budget then I strongly suggest you check out Devera.

The top price room being the Junior Suite is priced at 3,750 PHP (with discount) per single night and in my opinion this is well worth the price. The Junior Suite is a self contained unit on the 8th floor. It features a large king sized bed, a customized wardrobe cabinet a desk with chair, 2 side tables with chairs, a kitchenette which also contains a microwave oven and in room Jacuzzi and a complete home entertainment system with surround sound speakers. With the discount this room in my opinion represents excellent value for money and this is a truly impressive room which I believe would be very much appreciated by Asian Escapades members.
